Folkloric heritage takes center stage at “MATICES 2026” in Edinburg

MATICES2026 11x17 1 webEDINBURG, TX – The Edinburg Cultural Arts Division and the City of Edinburg Conceptos Dance Ensemble will present MATICES 2026, a dynamic, high-energy dance concert celebrating folkloric music and dance traditions. Performances are set for May 8 and 9, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Edinburg Arts, Culture and Events (ACE) Center. Doors open at 6 p.m.

STHS to launch Cinco de Mammo initiative

STHS will launch their Cinco de Mammo events this May. The initiative includes discounted screenings and Mammo Mondays. Mammo Mondays will be hosted at each participating facility on designated dates throughout the month.

In the United States, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, making it the second leading cause of cancer related death among women.

Texas Wildlife & Nature Photographer of the Year Contest opens statewide

The nonprofit organization announced the inaugural Texas Wildlife & Nature Photographer of the Year contest, a new statewide competition designed to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and conservation of Texas wildlife and wild places.

Seven Oaks had a season full of giving

RGV State Veterans Cem Wreaths 03 webSeven Oaks Resort residents spent a lot of their time this season doing service in their community.

In December, residents participated in the “Laying of the Wreaths” at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery. A number of guests went over to help tie the ribbons on and others were there to help lay wreaths at the ceremony on Sat., December 13th.
