Winter Solstice and more at Quinta Mazatlan

Enjoy the outdoors, entertainment, and more at one of Quinta Mazatlan’s activities this month. You can participate in crafts, workshops, tours, walks, yoga, or tai chi.

Quinta Mazatlan will celebrate the longest night of the year, Winter Solstice, on Saturday, December 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The park will be having a live concert with renowned artist Tish Hinojosa as well as an arts and crafts area and plant giveaways.

Tish Hinojosa is a Texas-born Latin American artist with a music career spanning decades. She has released 16 albums in English and Spanish and has even performed at the White House.

Get into the holiday spirit and stop by the craft tables where you can design and paint your own holiday pot. Customize the perfect pot as they will also be giving away Tasajillo and Christmas Cholla – while supplies last.

Additional parking will be available at La Plaza Mall, located at 1400 Wichita Ave. Simply park your car and hop on the free shuttle that will take you directly to Quinta Mazatlan.

The park will host another Holidays in the Park on Thursday, December 18, featuring Mariachi Mariposas. The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

MWE presents a musical holiday journey across the USA

This year’s Christmas concert takes audiences on a musical journey across the United States, featuring beloved seasonal favorites, rich orchestral arrangements, and heartwarming holiday classics from coast to coast. The evening will also showcase a special guest performance by the Deborah Case Dance Academy, whose elegant and expressive choreography will bring an added layer of beauty and storytelling to this festive event.

Holly Jolly Celebration coming to Dustin Sekula Memorial Library

The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library—teaming up with The Friends of the Edinburg Public Library—invites families, teens, and community members of every age to join the 2025 Holly Jolly Winter Celebration. This free and festive family event will take place on Thursday, December 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.

The 2025 Holly Jolly Winter Celebration will feature an evening filled with holiday crafts, themed games, photo opportunities, and delightful surprises, all designed to bring joy to attendees of all ages. All activities are free and open to the public, continuing a cherished seasonal tradition for the community.

From Texas for a Christmas: Holiday Concert in the Park featuring Tish Hinojosa

The concert will take place Saturday, December 20, at 7 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlán, McAllen’s urban sanctuary.

“From Texas for a Christmas” is also the title of one of Hinojosa’s acclaimed albums, and this concert brings that spirit to life beneath the stars. Known for using music to raise awareness of cultural and social issues, Hinojosa has released 16 albums in both English and Spanish, spanning genres including folk, country, pop, and Latino music.

Celebrate the season at the McAllen Heritage Center’s 5th Annual McGrinch event

The McAllen Heritage Center, in partnership with Explore McAllen, proudly invites the community to celebrate the 5th Annual McGrinch Event, a joyful downtown tradition that brings the holiday spirit to life

Guests can shop from local vendors and artisans, enjoy delicious bites from food trucks, and participate in festive activities for all ages. Suerte Bar & Grill Food Truck will also be serving special Grinch-themed tacos and cozy hot chocolate. As downtown McAllen transforms into a cheerful, whimsical space, families, friends, and even beloved pets can gather for an afternoon filled with laughter, lights, and a touch of Grinchy mischief.

The event will be held on Saturday, December 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the McAllen Heritage Center, 301 S. Main St.

The event is a free, family-friendly and pet-friendly holiday celebration inspired by the playful spirit of the Grinch. Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, festive holiday treats, local shopping, and plenty of fun activities for all ages. There will be countless opportunities to snap holiday photos throughout the event.

BSPA presents annual Christmas concert

The Brownsville Society for Performing Arts presents their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, December 18. The concert, featuring Alium Spiritum and over 100 more musicians, will be performing Handel’s Messiah collections and more.  

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. at the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave. in Brownsville. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.

Chabad RGV hosts Annual Chanukah Concert & Festival 

The RGV Annual Chanukah Concert and Festival will be held on Sunday, December 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Archer Park, 101 N. Main St. Open to all and free for the entire family.

Enjoy carnival rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, games and more. There will be live music and a concert featuring Israeli rock star Barak Grossberg. You can also enjoy hearing from local dignitaries and having Sufganiot (jelly donuts) and kosher hot dogs.
